Stonehedge Square GIANT on Walnut Bottom Road helps customers save time, save money and eat well beginning April

Carlisle, PA – GIANT Food Stores will open its second location in Carlisle on Friday, April 8 at 8 a.m., at Stonehedge Square, 950 Walnut Bottom Road. GIANT acquired the former Nell’s Shurfine Market in late February and is currently finishing renovations to the store.

The new GIANT will employ approximately 150 full and part time associates.

Todd Kinter, an 18-year GIANT veteran, will take the reins as store manager of the new 51,800 square foot GIANT, which will operate 6 a.m. until midnight, seven days a week.

“Our roots began in 1923 as a small meat market in Carlisle and we are happy to open our second hometown GIANT,” said Tom Lenkevich, president, GIANT/MARTIN’S. “Carlisle customers are accustomed to our fresh produce, quality offerings and wide selection of products and we wanted to give them a second convenient location so they can save time, save money and eat well.”

When customers walk through the doors of the newly remodeled store they will see market fresh produce, with locally-grown and organic fruits and vegetables, an expanded organic section and a salad bar. Other fresh departments include a full service meat and seafood department and the GIANT signature bakery department. To help customers save time and eat well, the Stonehedge Square GIANT will feature expanded deli and prepared food offerings, including freshly prepared sushi, ready-to-eat sandwiches and salads, soups and entrees.

Commitment to healthy living and eating well

Emphasizing GIANT’s ongoing commitment to health and wellness, customers will find a broader assortment of organic, natural and free-from products in the dedicated section called Nature’s Promise Marketplace, a store within a store, which includes more than 2,500 frozen, dairy, grocery and special diet selections. An extensive organic selection can also be found in the updated market fresh produce department. In addition, customers will find a wider assortment of frozen organic and free-from products, including GIANT’S exclusive Nature’s Promise items.

The in-store pharmacy has expert pharmacists available seven days a week to fill prescriptions and offer expert advice. As partners in good health, GIANT pharmacists can administer vaccines, suggest the right over-the-counter medications and help manage prescriptions. GIANT’S pharmacy also accepts most major insurance plans, can fill pet prescriptions, and offers low-cost generic and name brand prescriptions.
