Carlisle, PA – GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’S Food Markets customers donated $563,683 through the grocers’ annual Children Miracle Network (CMN) $1 paper balloon campaign, which ran June 21 through July 4.

“For nearly 20 years, our customers and associates have come together to donate and help create miracles for children in our local communities,” said Tom Lenkevich, GIANT/MARTIN’S president. “Once again, they gave generously to our annual in-store campaign, which helps fund state-of-the-art medical care, life-saving research and preventative education at CMN Hospitals right in our own backyard.”

Since 1996, GIANT/MARTIN’S has raised more than $37 million for CMN Hospitals throughout its market area. GIANT/MARTIN’S is one of the top 10 fundraisers in the country for CMN and ranks #2 nationwide in per-store fundraising for CMN. In addition to conducting annual in-store campaigns, associates also regularly volunteer at CMN Hospital events, including radio and television telethons.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the alliance of premier hospitals for children, is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America.

The following CMN Hospitals in GIANT/MARTIN’S communities benefited from this summer’s paper balloon campaign: Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, The Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at Geisinger, Children’s National Medical Center, University of Virginia Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh Children's Hospital, Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
