FEEDMORE RECEIVES 1,000 TURKEYS AND $5,000 FROM MARTIN’S FOOD MARKETS’ FEEDING OUR NEIGHBORS EVERYDAY CAMPAIGN Nearly $90,000 in turkeys and cash to be donated in three states
Carlisle, PA – MARTIN’S Food Markets’ “Feeding Our Neighbors Everyday” holiday campaign supported FeedMore’s annual turkey drive with 1,000 turkeys and $5,000 to the food bank to use to purchase food when it needs it most, after the holidays.
“While food banks receive increased donations during the holiday season, these donations tend to slow down early in the New Year, even though the need doesn’t,” said Tom Lenkevich, MARTIN’S president. “Feeding our neighbors every day is part of MARTIN’S mission, but we can’t do it alone, and we need your help to end hunger in Central Virginia.”
“We are so very thankful that MARTIN’S is continuing to join us in the movement to fight hunger in Central Virginia,” said Norm Gold, chief operations officer at FeedMore. “These 1,000 turkeys are sure to put smiles on the faces of families throughout our community when they are distributed at six of our Mobile Pantry sites later this month. From Cumberland to Emporia to the City of Richmond to Westmoreland and Dinwiddie, these turkeys will be the perfect holiday gift to hungry neighbors throughout our service area.”
According to FeedMore, the donation of 1,000 turkeys can help feed nearly 8,000 people.
As part of MARTIN’S Feeding Our Neighbors holiday campaign, nearly $90,000 in turkeys and cash will be donated to eight regional food banks and local hunger organizations throughout three states.
In addition to FeedMore, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Philabundance, Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley, Greater Berks Food Bank, Maryland Food Bank – Western Branch and Lancaster County Council of Churches will receive donations.
