GIANT FOOD STORES DONATES $10,000 TO PENNSYLVANIA PINK ZONE

Carlisle, PA – GIANT Food Stores today announced a $10,000 donation to the Pennsylvania Pink Zone. On February 15, GIANT associates across 30 stores in central and western Pennsylvania, decked out in Pink Zone Penn State t-shirts to collect donations to support the fight against breast cancer.

“Thank you to all of our customers and associates who joined us in going pink and supporting the Pennsylvania Pink Zone,” said John MacDonald, director of marketing and external communications, GIANT Food Stores. “After participating in the one-day collection drive at our State College stores the past two years, this year we were excited to expand to 30 stores to help raise awareness and needed funds for breast cancer awareness.”

This is the second year GIANT customers and associates raised money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer and the Pennsylvania Pink Zone. In 2013, $2,000 was raised during the one-day collection.

The Pennsylvania Pink Zone and Penn State Lady Lion Basketball are a unified force in the fight against breast cancer on the court, across campus, and within communities. The Pennsylvania Pink Zone promotes cancer awareness and empowers survivors through year-round efforts to raise funds critical in support vital breast cancer organizations, charities and facilities that focus on breast cancer education, prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
