Carlisle, PA – MARTIN’S Food Markets today announced that the doors of its brand new store located at 706 E. Main Street in Waynesboro, PA will open for business on Friday, June 19 at 8:00 a.m. The store replaces the grocer’s current Waynesboro store located at 1511 E. Main Street, which will close for business on June 18 at 8:00 p.m.

Approximately 50 additional full and part time jobs have been created bringing the total number of Waynesboro associates to 150.

Steve Blessing, a 35-year veteran, has been appointed store manager of the new 57,000 square foot MARTIN’S, which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Blessing recently served as store manager of the Charlestown, WV MARTIN’S.

“We’re so excited to bring this new store to the Waynesboro community,” said Blessing. “I’m proud of all of our associates - it’s their hard work that made this new store possible. We can’t wait to show off all the savings, great quality, and freshness that our customers have come to love from shopping at MARTIN’S.”

Since January 16, customers have been able to take advantage of both convenience and savings at the fuel pump with the Waynesboro MARTIN’S fuel station, located within the parking lot of the new store. For every $100 spent on grocery and pharmacy out-of-pocket expenses at any MARTIN’S using a BonusCard, customers receive ten cents off per gallon of gas when they fill up as part of Gas Extra Rewards.

Healthy Living Choices Featured

When customers walk through the doors of the new store they will take in the vast, fresh hall that includes MARTIN’S signature produce, deli, meat, seafood, and bakery departments all complemented by a warm and inviting décor package.

Health and wellness is a focus throughout the store as customers will find a unique assortment of natural and organic products in one of their favorite sections called Nature’s Promise Marketplace, which includes more than 2,500 frozen, dairy, grocery and special diet selections.

MARTIN’S exclusive Healthy IdeasTM product labeling system includes thousands of MARTIN’S own brand and national brand perishable and nonperishable products that feature the blue and green Healthy Ideas shelf tags that help customers identify healthy options as they shop the aisles. Foods labeled with the Healthy Ideas symbol include single ingredient fruits, vegetables and 100% fruit juice, some canned, frozen and dried fruits, certain breads and meats, cereals, low fat dairy products and some snack foods.

Energy Saving Features

The new Waynesboro MARTIN’S, which is pursuing LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, has been constructed with innovative building technologies to reduce energy consumption and the environmental impact of operations. LED lighting will be used in many areas of the store, significantly reducing energy needs. Warm concrete floors have replaced the traditional tile, reducing the amount of cleaning solutions normally utilized.
