Total of $16 million donated since 2005

Carlisle, PA – GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’S Food Markets announced today a $3 million donation to 2,868 public and private schools through its A+ School Rewards program for the 2012-2013 school year. Since the program launched in 2005, more than $16 million has been donated to local schools throughout participating markets in the four states GIANT/MARTIN’S operates.

GIANT/MARTIN’S A+ School Rewards program allows local schools to earn cash for technology, scholarships, school programs, field trips, playgrounds, and other educational needs. After customers had designated the school(s) of their choice, A+ School Rewards points accrued with each purchase made using a BonusCard from October 7, 2012 through March 30, 2013.

“Thank you to all of our customers and schools who once again helped to make this year’s A+ School Rewards program a great success,” said Rick Herring, president. “Just by signing up and shopping with your BonusCard, you helped your local schools earn money to enhance the educational experience for the youngest members of our communities.”

Governor Wolf Elementary School in Bethlehem, PA was the top earning school this year, at $21,413.55. The other top earning schools by state included:

  • Bishop Walsh School in Cumberland, MD - $19,436.27
  • Mills E. Godwin High School in Richmond, VA - $6,477.80
