$621,342 contributed to regional USOs and Wounded Warrior Project

Carlisle, PA – GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’S Food Markets customers and associates gave generously to support men and women serving in the Armed Forces during the grocers’ annual Support Our Troops in-store campaign. From May 3 through May 16, a record-breaking $621,342 was donated by customers at the checkout to benefit regional USOs and the Wounded Warrior Project.

“This is our way of saying thank you to our brave men and women who have both served and continue to serve in the Armed Forces for all that they do on behalf of our country,” said Tom Lenkevich, GIANT/MARTIN’S president. “This year’s donation marked the largest one to date by our customers and associates. Thanks to their continued generosity, we remain committed to supporting our servicemen and women both at home and abroad and their families.”

Since the Support Our Troops campaign began in 2005, GIANT/MARTIN’S customers and associates have donated more than $3.5 million to regional USOs and the Wounded Warrior Project. Regional USOs are dedicated to programs that build morale and keep soldiers connected to their families.

The Wounded Warrior Project enlists the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service members, helps severely injured men and women aid and assist each other, and provides unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.
