Richmond, VA – To help The Salvation Army Central Virginia Area Command assist individuals and families in need throughout the local community, MARTIN’S Food Markets participated in the organization’s recent Donuts of Hope: A Dough-Raising Event. During the in-store campaign, held June 1-7, MARTIN’S donated 25 cents of every donut sold, resulting in a total contribution of $5,168.

“MARTIN’S is committed to helping those in need throughout all of the communities we serve,” said Jim Scanlon, regional vice president, MARTIN’S. “By partnering with The Salvation Army for the third year in a row on their Donuts of Hope campaign, we are able to raise money that remains right here to help our Richmond area neighbors.”

In the three years MARTIN’S has been participating in Donuts of Hope, more than $20,000 has been raised for The Salvation Army Central Virginia Area Command.

"We are extremely grateful to MARTIN’S Food Markets and their customers who have teamed together to support the work of The Salvation Army through the Donuts of Hope Campaign,” said Major Timothy P. Carter, area commander, The Salvation Army Central Virginia Area Command. “Just as The Salvation Army was compelled to provide for the needs of American soldiers during World Wars I and II, The Salvation Army is still on the front lines of service, providing help for individuals and families in need. I want to thank everyone who participated this year. May God bless you all!"
