MARTIN’S FOOD MARKETS DONATES $9,000 TO MARYLAND FOOD BANK – WESTERN BRANCH

Grocer celebrating 90 years of living and giving in the local communities they serve

Carlisle, PA – MARTIN’S Food Markets is celebrating its 90th anniversary by expanding the company’s “Living Here, Giving Here” community support program with 90 Days of Giving to local food bank partners and throughout the communities they serve. MARTIN’S recently recognized the Maryland Food Bank – Western Branch with a special $9,000 donation to provide hunger relief throughout the Hagerstown community.

“Since our founding in 1923, our commitment to being a good neighbor has been unwavering,” said Rick Herring, president. “We are proud to be a leader in the fight against hunger, raising millions of dollars and donating thousands of pounds of food for hunger relief throughout our 90 year history. No one in the communities we serve should go hungry, and we will continue to support Maryland Food Bank on future efforts to eradicate hunger.”

“Last year, the Maryland Food Bank Western Branch distributed just under 2 million meals in its service area – that’s over 5,400 meals each day -- doubling the numbers from the year before,” said Matt Thompson, managing director, Maryland Food Bank – Western Branch. “This year, partnering with local farms and building new relationships with communities and businesses, we’re projected to increase that by yet another million meals. MARTIN’S has a long history of generosity and is a very valuable partner in our fight to end hunger in Western Maryland!”

Since 2005, MARTIN’S has donated more than $150 million in combined cash and product donations throughout the markets they serve, focused on hunger relief efforts, improving the quality of life for children and building healthier communities.
