San Giorgio® Pasta and GIANT Food Stores partner for pasta donation to Central Pennsylvania Food Bank

Iconic pasta brand celebrating 100 years of bringing families together

Harrisburg, PA – In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of San Giorgio® pasta, an iconic brand that has brought families together around the dinner table since 1914, the pasta company has joined with GIANT Food Stores to thank the Central Pennsylvania neighborhoods and communities that have supported San Giorgio pasta over the years. On Wednesday, San Giorgio presented the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank with a truckload of pasta worth $43,000 to help feed those in need this holiday season. Based on a 2 oz. portion, this pasta donation represents 249,000 servings for families in Central Pennsylvania.

“San Giorgio is a brand that has brought family and friends together around the dinner table for 100 years,” says Paul Galvani, senior vice president of marketing, San Giorgio pasta. “Not many brands have been around for a century. Honoring generations of family recipe traditions and bringing delicious pasta to the cities that have supported the brand over the last 100 years felt like a natural way to say thank you and celebrate this momentous anniversary.”

“Pasta is one of the items most requested by individuals receiving food assistance,” said Joe Arthur, executive director, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. “With the number of families facing hunger at record levels, this donation of high-quality pasta by San Giorgio will supply thousands of much-needed meals here in central PA.”

“We are committed to the fight against hunger year round and because of the generous support of our vendor partners, our customers and our associates, donations like this help the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank provide meals year round to those who may otherwise go without,” said John MacDonald, director of marketing and external communications, GIANT Food Stores.
