Store in a cool, dry place. Keeps best refrigerated or frozen after opening. Make my award-winning oatmeal at home: Bring water and salt to a boil. Add steel cut oats, reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes (or longer for creamier oatmeal). Remove from heat and let stand for 2 minutes. Servings - oats - water - salt: 1 serving - 1/4cup - 3/4 cup - pinch. 2 servings - 1/2 cup - 1 1/2 cups - pinch. 3 servings - 3/4 cup - 2 1/4 cups - 1/4 tsp. 4 servings - 1 cup - 3 cups - 1/4 tsp. Steel cut oats in the slow cooker: Combine 4 cups water, 1 cup oats and 1/2 tsp salt in a 4-6 quart slow cooker. Cover with lid and cook on low for 7-8 hours or overnight. Makes 4 servings.
