Directions

Stovetop recipe: In a medium saucepan, heat 1 1/2 cups water and 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine to a boil (melt butter/margarine completely). Stir in contents of stuffing mix pouch. Remove from heat, cover and let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork and serve. Microwave recipe: In a 1 1/2 quart microwave safe bowl, mix contents of stuffing mix pouch with 1 1/2 cups hot water and 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine, cut into pieces. Cover, and microwave on high 5 to 6 minutes. Fluff with fork and serve. Caution: bowl will be hot. Because microwaves cook differently, times are approximate. In the bird recipe. Prepare stuffing by heating 1 1/2 cups hot water and 1/2 stick butter or margine (melted). Stir in contents of stuffing mix pouch. Do not stuff bird until ready to roast. Rinse poultry with cold water. Pat dry, salt lightly. Stuff cavities with prepared stuffing (using approximately 3/4 cup per pound of bird). Serving suggestions: Prepare stuffing mix for chicken according to the method you prefer (see the three easy methods on the back panel). Before cooking, add one of the following stir-in ingredients to create a delicious, personalized dish: Chopped nuts. Ham, diced and cooked. Mushrooms, sauteed. Sausage, sliced and cooked. Giblets, cooked and chopped. Water chestnuts. Bacon, cooked and crumbled. Corn, cooked and drained. Apple, diced. Green pepper, chopped. Onions, chopped and sauteed.
