For best results, refrigerate after opening. Basic stock directions: Dissolve 1 teaspoon Ham Base in 8oz. boiling water. For each quart of stock needed, use 1 1/2 tablespoons Ham Base. Recipe for easy lentil, split pea or navy bean soup: (no hambone) dissolve 3 tablespoons Ham Base in 2 quarts water, add 1lb. lentils, split peas or presoaked navy beans. Bring to a boil; remove from heat and add 1 medium chopped onion, 2-3 medium chopped carrots, 2 teaspoons vegetable oil, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and 1 small can diced tomatoes (optional). Heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer, partially covered for 1 1/2 hours or until desired tenderness.
